Andrew Hignell17-Jan-2002Robert Croft has been confirmed as Glamorgan’s vice-captain to Steve James for the2002 season.The England off-spinner was delighted to be contacted by Steve James and invited toact as his deputy for this coming season. The spinner said: “I am delighted to take up thepost in what is a massive season for theclub. The club do deserve some success, and I think we have a squad of players to enable usto do that. Hopefully, I can pass on the experience I have gained at Test and One-DayInternational level to some of the younger players.”Croft takes over from all-rounder Adrian Dale whoundertook the job last summer, and capably led the side in several matches whenSteve James was injured. Steve James said, “Adrian did a good job last year, but I feel that we are both verysimilar in our cricketing thinking, and it`s always good to get different views.I think it is a good time for Crofty to step up to the vice-captaincy, and I feel that he willrespond well to this challenge, which will be of benefit to the Glamorgan team.”
