New City signing Trafford was handed the 2024-25 PFA Championship Player of the Year award at the Manchester Opera House on Tuesday night after a stunning season with former club Burnley. The 22-year-old was a goalkeeping colossus last year at Turf Moor, conceding only 16 goals in 45 outings while keeping 29 clean sheets. That also included a stunning 12 shutouts in a row.

Trafford wasn't the only player who left Burnley this summer who was up for the trophy. Midfielder Josh Brownhill was instrumental as Scott Parker's side finished runners-up but departed as a free agent and is still without a club. Title winners Leeds also had Daniel James and Ao Tanaka nominated for the gong, while Borja Saiz, who joined Porto after a goal-laden spell with Norwich, and Sheffield United's Gustavo Hamer also missed out after being shortlisted.

All six Player of the Year nominees were also included in the Championship Team of the Year. The XI is dominated by Leeds and Burnley, who had both wracked up 100 points by the end of the campaign. The Clarets are further represented by CJ Egan-Riley and Maxime Esteve, while Daniel Farke's side also have Junior Firpo, Jayden Bogle and Joel Piroe included.
